Our Team

Peter Pappas’s experience in Greek media and culture spans over a quarter of a century, most recently as first director of the Foundation for Hellenic Culture in North America. He was founding board member of the Greek Theatre of New York, founding editor of The GreekAmerican, founding managing editor of Odyssey, and director of programming for TV-Plus (the first pay-TV station in Greece). He also served on the editorial board of the Journal of the Hellenic Diaspora and created the first course on Greek cinema at an American university (Queens College, CUNY).

Upon receiving his doctorate in classics from New York University, Stelios Vasilakis was appointed research fellow and director of the New York office of the Speros Basil Vryonis Center for the Study of Hellenism. In that role, he created and led the Center’s extensive cultural and educational programs, both in New York and California. He was also the prime mover in the Center’s two-year collaboration with the Foundation for Hellenic Culture. Finally, Stelios taught modern Greek, classics, and Byzantine history for five years at New York University, receiving an Outstanding Teaching Award in 1993.
